Intro Post

'Ello!

Cedar Rapids just bores me to tears compared to Minneapolis.

I've been drawing as a hobby since about the 5th grade when I made pokemon and digimon fancharacters. I am now 21 and I still watch Pokemon and Digimon (only seasons 1 and 2 please) but have moved to mostly original work.

I work mostly with my Intuos3 tablet and do digital work in Photoshop. My work, Animation and otherwise, is mostly character development-based. Backgrounds need help like woah. But thats not this class now, is it?

When it comes to journals, I have a few things - The keeping-up-to-date-because-I-really-beleive-other-people-care things like Livejournal and Facebook. (no Twatter though, I REFUSE) and then I have a very personal "little black book" where I just write down random ideas and stuf I get, make notes of songs with lyrics I like, things like that. of course, while its had good ideas in it, its been full of bad ones too. And I have a friend who keeps tryin to steal it so they can see all my "secret deep hidden thoughts". Ha. Never. I also plan on starting a review blog to review important PVC figures from japan...for girls. There's plenty of blogs that review scantily clad porn figurines but not enough of sexeh animated men.

Personal Influences include videogames, movies and music. I listen to all kinds of music and I'm shameless about it - My favorite bands are the Jonas Brothers (Miriam and Madison will testify to this) and Owl City (who has recently given me the inspiration I needed to pick up this summer and get back to artin'). I can spend hours playing games like Zelda (majora's mask is best), Silent HIll (Mostly 4) and other spooky survival horror games.

I have a great interest in the human psyche, specifically complexes and disorders, most of my characters are shall we say, "messed up" in some way or another and I try to characterize them properly.

My other major influence is Angelology/Demonology. My major project this summer is a collaborative webcomic, Black Feather Gospel. Melissa Somerville and I started it together for our Intro to Comics final this past semester and we hope to get some printed copies by the time Anime Iowa rolls around. :D

here is a link to it - Black Feather Gospel

Only the first 10 pages are done, but yeah.
